Best Friends For Never {Chapter 12 - Remi}

I heard a knock on my door and quickly went to open it. It was Lanre his eyes brightened up like seeing me was the best part of his day. It was slightly drizzling and his hair was wet and drops of rain where coming down his tight cheek bones. He had a black  jacket on and a white shirt.

"Hey come in" he had a mark that ran across his face. He leaned in to kiss me but I stopped him before he could.

"It’s okay I ended it" he tried to kiss me one more time but I blocked it again.

"I don't know Lanre maybe.....maybe we should wait a little while for Chioma to get another boyfriend or give her time to recover.  That reminds me I should call her and apologize. Did I tell you that-"

"Remi...."He cut me off "she figured out everything about the kiss that happened the other night..... That’s why I have that mark on my face...she slapped me"

"What?"

"She knew that I kissed you”

" she will never trust me again this is horrible  ..... I don't want to lose her I can't "I couldn't stop rambling my face was getting sweaty and I started to panic . I was having a panic attack.

"Remi you need to relax."Lanre said grabbing me into his arms. Tears ran down my face as I tried to breathe normally but I kept having sudden loss of air and sobs that came deep from in my chest.

"I lost my best friend. I lost my best friend” I kept repeating

"Remi just clam down” he said stroking my hair back

"How can you say that when my best friend that I told everything to hates me and she probably told Kingsley and now he hates me……. oh my gosh I have no friends….. they are probably going to tell everyone in school and I am going to be known as  the boyfriend stealer, the new school slut this can't be happening" I started to cry harder.

"I'm sorry Remi, this is all my fault you told me you didn't want to be with me and I didn't listen."

"Don't be sorry I was jealous of Chioma I will admit it but when I talk to you I feel just a bit happier. And I shouldn't have let you kiss me but I did and I can't take it back ... would I want to ...no... But I would have told Chioma first thing. Lanre I really do like you but you have to tell me now before I lose what's left of me do you really like me?? Is it worth losing Chioma and Kingsley to be with you... are you going to break my heart" he took me away from his chest and looked me straight in the eyes.

"Remi I can't promise that we won't get in fights I can't promise that we won't talk for a few days but I can promise you that the only way I will leave is if you want me to. I love Chioma but I feel like it wasn't real I felt like I had to be Mr. cool all the time but with you I can be ....me and I know you

Won’t care because you can be yourself in front of me. I won't promise you that I will remember every anniversary we have but I do promise that everyday I will tell you how much you mean to me." He leaned in and kissed me.  It was long and passionate, a dream kiss that every girl wants….. His lips were soft and molded to mine

 "Let’s just forget about everything that has happened right now and just watch something?"

"That would be great" we cuddled up on my couch and watched  titanic and of course the end made me cry but Lanre was right there to wipe my tears.

Best Friends For Never {Chapter 11 - Chioma}

I might have been mad at Remi, but my worry outweighed it. She had been different ever since the holiday, like there was some unspoken tension between us. I just wanted to figure out what was going on so we could get back to the old us.

I knocked on Remi's front door and her mother answered. Mrs. George had Remis's brown hair and nose but the likeness ended there.

"Chioma , what can I do for you?' She asked cheerfully.

"Can I please see Remi?"

"Sure, she is up in her room with Lanre working on their project." Project? Since when did they have a project together, or even a class the same period?

"Thanks." I said and quickly headed upstairs before Mrs. George could ask me any questions about this project.

I stopped in front of Remi's cracked open door. "I will do it tomorrow I promise." Lanre told her. Do what? I had half a mind to barge in an demand to know what was going on, but the other part of me wanted to wait and see what was going to happen. I watched in horror as Lanre leaned in and kissed Remi. I turned and ran down the stairs, tears blurring my vision.

"Chioma honey where are you going?" Remi's mom called.

"My mom called, family emergency." I didn't wait for her to reply before running from the hose. I stopped on the road to catch my breath, which was hard because I was sobbing so hard. This couldn't be happening, it couldn't be real! But there was no other way to explain what I had just seen. I hated her, how could she do this to me? How could Lanre do this to me? I could never forgive them.

There was a knock early Sunday morning. "Chioma its's Lanre!" My mom called from downstairs. I let out a groan and pushed a pillow over my face. I hadn't gotten any sleep, Lanre and Remi's kiss just kept playing in my mind. Lanre was the last person I wanted to see, no scratch that, Remi was the last person I wanted to see EVER AGAIN and Lanre came in a close second. But fact was that I couldn't avoid them forever. Slowly I got out of bed and got dressed. I opened the front door and Lanre was there waiting for me. I couldn't even look at him.

"Hey." I said quietly looking at the ground.

"Hi, wanna take a walk?" He asked.

"Sure." I said.

Lanre stood in front on me looking nervous.

"Chioma we need to talk."

"I agree." Anger welled inside me threatening to burst out. I looked up at Lanre my fists clenched tightly. "So I went to Remi's last night."

Lanre swallowed hard. "Did you?"

"Yeah I did." I gave him a sickly sweet smile. "You see I was worried about Remi, I wanted to make sure she was alright. But you where already there."

"Chioma -"

Barely able to control my temper. "How long?" I asked gruffly.

"Chioma let me explain, -"

"Just tell me!" I yelled.

"Since Segun's party."

I closed my eyes trying to restrain the tears. "That long?" I asked with a shaky voice.

"Chioma it just happened, we never meant to hurt you."

I let loose a laugh similar to one of a mad person. "Of course! Because that would never hurt me! What did you two think, that once you broke up with me I would be fine with it? Are you insane or just dumb? Or maybe you’re just an ass."

"C -ioma" I had never hit anyone before but let me tell you that my first connecting with his nose was the most exhilarating thing I had ever felt.

"In case that didn't give you the message, I'm breaking up with you. And you can tell Remi I hate her. I hate you both." With that I pushed past him and walked away. I might have been strong for a moment but now I felt like I was gonna start crying again. By the time I got to Kingsleys's house I was shaking.

"Hey Chioma whats up?" He asked when He answered the door. He seemed in better spirits today then yesterday but his face fell when he saw the fact I had tears welled in my eyes and a no doubt splotchy face. "What's wrong, what happened?" The look on his face said 'Give me a name and I will make them pay.'

"Lanre and Remi they..." I couldn't finish before breaking into tears. I watched Kingsley's face change as he realized just what I had meant.

"Ivy, I'm sorry." He whispered wrapping his arms around me.

I let out a small laugh. "Well you have officially been upgraded to best friend."

"Chioma this is all my fault."

"No it's not."

Kingsley pulled away and met my eyes. "Yes it is. I... I knew. Or sort of. Remi told me that they kissed but that it would never happen again."

I froze. "Oh my God..."

"Chioma I know I should have told you but -"

"You lied to me too?" I cried.

"It's not like that!"

"Then what is it like!" I screamed."Tell me who I can trust and who has just been keeping secrets behind my back!"

"You can trust me I swear." Kingsley begged trying to take me hand but I pulled away.

"Can I? Cause it doesn't seem that way." I turned and stormed away.

"Chioma!" I ignored him.

Best Friends For Never {Chapter 10 - Remi}

I didn't mean to blow up at Chioma. But how could I not, it was nonstop Lanre this Lanre that. You'd think after 13 months of being together they would be out of the cupcake phase.I couldn't take it anymore I had to talk to Kingsley.

I ran across the street and rang the door bell. I stood the awkwardly waiting for someone to open it.

"Hi Remi how are you?" Kingsley's mom said opening the door. She had big brown eyes,a great cheeky grin, and brown recently cut hair.

"Good and you?"

"Fine"

"Your hair looks nice” I said, her smile fading.

"Kingsley is inside would you like me to get him" she said, ending our conversation.

"yes please" She shut the door, a couple minutes later Kingsley came walking out.

"Hey"I said walking over and sitting next to him.

"Hi"

"We need to talk"

"I'm not in the mood"

"Kingsley your never in the mood" I practically yelled.

"Fine what?"

"It's Lanre"

"WHAT THE HELL REMI! I KNEW IT! I SHOULD HAVE TOLD CHIOMA WHEN I HAD THE FUCKING CHANCE!"

"KINGSLEY ITS NOT MY FAULT HE LIKES ME BACK!"

"NO REMI YOU’RE JUST FUCKING STUPID ENOUGH TO BELIEVE HE DOES!" I couldn't look him in the eyes. I started to feel tears fill my eyes."THE ONLY REASON YOU CARE FOR LANRE IS BECAUSE HE MAKES YOU FEEL PRETTY. FACE IT REMI, CHIOMA IS SMARTER, NICER, AND PRETTIER THAN YOU.YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS AND YOU WILL ALWAYS BE JEALOUS" I could tell he regretted it after but I ran off before he could say another word. 

"Remi please I'm sorry" I heard him call for me but I just kept running. My eyes were blurred by tears. I didn't stop running till I got home. I entered my room and sat on my bed with my head berried in my knees. I heard footsteps walking towards my room.I didn't look up. Whoever it was i hoped they were smart enough to keep walking.

"Hey" I heard a familiar voice say."!"I looked up and Chioma was standing in front of me. She was the last person i wanted to see.

"Hi....what are you doing here?"

"I heard the fight with Kingsley, he was pretty mad"

"Yeah well right now I really just want to be alone."

"Come on. What happened to telling each other everything?"

"Chioma we are not ten anymore. Kingsley is a stupid boy, you have a boyfriend and I'm just the third wheel."

"No Remi you’re my best friend. Kingsley is just going through some really hard times."

"IF HE IS GOING THROUGH SOME TOUGH TIMES WHY CANT HE JUST BE A MAN AND FACE IT INSTEAD OF YELLING AT ME"

"You have no idea Remi"

"THEN TELL ME CHIOMA" I screamed

"I can’t I promised not to"

"Whatever, I'm done with you and Kingsley. Both of you just leave me alone" I could tell she was about to cry so I ran away before she could say anything else. I looked at my phone that night and there were a bunch of missed calls from Chioma, Kingsley but the most from Lanre. I heard a knock on the door I just let my mom get it I was going to act sick tomorrow so I didn't have to go to school. The next thing I knew Lanre was knocking on my door.

"Remi are you okay" I didn't answer.

"I don't know who you are Lanre, you love me. you love her, Who do you want to be with?" 

"I want you Remi"


"Then why won’t you break up with her?"

"Because it seems like the wrong thing to do"

"And this is right?

" I will do it tomorrow I promise" He leaned in and kissed me. Right now he he was the best thing in my life.

Best Friends For Never {chapter 9 - Chioma}

Days passed and everything seemed normal. Lanre and I went on dates, Remi and I went shopping and had sleepovers. The only thing that seemed out of place was kingsley. He seemed off since the party and it was impossible to talk to him when Halima was constantly clinging to him. When I did get him alone he was cold and closed up, nothing like my best friend. About 2 weeks into school I got fed up of Kingsley's act. Early on a Saturday morning I stood outside Kingsley's window banging on it. Kingsley pushed back his curtains and threw open his window.

"WHAT?" He hissed. His hair was disheveled from sleep and he was only wearing a pair of boxers.

I looked away from him and cleared my throat awkwardly. "Uh Kingsley some pants maybe?"

He looked down and blushed. "Meet me outside." He said and quickly closed his curtains.

I walked back to the front of his house and waited for him. Kingsley came out, this time dressed, and walked over to me. "What do you want Chioma?"

"I want to know what’s going on." Kingsley opened his mouth but I cut him off. "And don't tell me nothing is going on because I have known you for forever and can tell when something is up. You have been acting so weird lately and I am worried about you."

Kingsley let out a sigh and sat down next to me. "It’s my mom." He began looking at the ground. "She... she is sick... my mom has cancer." kingsley let out a small sad laugh. "It's safe to say I haven't been handling it well"

A lump formed in my throat. "When did you find out?" I asked.

"The day after the party." Kingsley turned to meet my eye. He looked so sad, so scared. "I don't know what to do." Tears filled his eyes and he quickly wiped them away.

I threw my arms around him and he wrapped his around me and started to cry. I had never seen him like this, it scared me. If cool, calm Kingsley was breaking down then things must be really bad. "It's gonna be OK." I whispered and pulled away to meet his eye. "I'm gonna be here for you no matter what."

Kingsley took a deep breath and dried his eyes. "Thank you Chioma, you really are the best. I have to go get ready for practice." I nodded and walked him to the door. "Can we just keep this between us?" He asked nervously.

"My lips are sealed." I replied with a smile. "Bye." I gave him a hug then started to walk away.

"Chioma!" He called and I turned to face him. He looked like he really wanted to tell me something.

"Yeah?"

"Never mind." With that he turned and went inside, slamming the door as he went.

Remi and I went to shoprite and got frozen yogurt every Saturday, it was a tradition. Remi always got vanilla with peanut butter chips and I got vanilla with gummy bears, sprinkles and strawberries. It was safe to say I had a major sweet tooth.

"You know what today is?" I asked her.

"Hmmmm presidents day?" She joked. "Sorry I have no idea."

"A year and a month ago Lanre and I started going out."

"Oh."

"Since I was in jand during our year anniversary we decided we would just celebrate our year and a month."

"Are you sure he remembers? I mean guys forget that sort of stuff."

"Not Lanre. He said he has something big planned." Remi looked sort of put out. "Stop being jealous of my awesome boyfriend and go talk to that dude, he has been checking you out"

"Excuse me?" I gestured to the guy who had been checking her out for the last 5 minutes.

"Go talk to him!" I squealed.

"No thanks."

"Remi he is uber hot! Why not?"

"Because! If you think he is so hot then why don't you go talk to him?"

"Cause I have Lanre, gosh Remi what’s your problem?"

"You!" She yelled. "All you ever do it talk about yourself or you and Lanre and I am sick of it!"

I just sort of stared at her, jaw dropped. I was shocked. Lucky for me I got over the shock fast. "Excuse me? So I talk about my boyfriend! That is 100% normal! I'm sorry you don't have one, have never had one in fact, but don't take it out on me!" Remi glared at me then leaned over the table and dumped her yogurt on my head. "Remi!" I screamed jumping up. She seemed almost stunned by what she had just done, but she didn't say sorry, no she just ran…

Lanre was late, an hour late. I was done waiting. I turned on my computer and went to Skype. Of course he was on.

"Hey Chioma what’s up?" He asked with a smile when the call connected.

"Oh nothing just really craving pepperoni pizza." Lanre gave me an odd look then realized what I was talking about.

"Oh my God our date."

"Not just a date, our 13 month anniversary, the one we were gonna celebrate since we missed our 12 month."

"Chioma Just let me get dressed and I will pick you up and -"

"How did you forget?" I asked feeling close to tears.  You reminded me everyday that you had something planned and now you don't even remember it? What changed?"

"Chioma I'm sorry, I just spaced. Please let me make it up to you."

"Thanks, but no thanks."

"Chioma -" I hung up before he could finish. I covered my mouth to suppress a small sob.

'Pull it together Chioma.' I told myself. 'So your best friend dumped yogurt on your head and your boyfriend forgot about you. It can always be worse, besides you still have Kingsley.'

I pulled out my phone and began to dial his number but stopped. My problems where pathetic compared to his, if I called him I would seem so dumb. I sat down on my bed feeling completely and utterly alone.

Best Friends For Never {Chapter 8 - Remi}

Chioma goes over to Lanre's house every night and stays till 10 at around 10:30 I called Lanre.

"What the hell!!!!!"

" Remi?" Chioma answered

"Chioma umm uuh. What. Why are you still at Lanre's and why are you answering his phone"

"He is in the shower"

"oh"

"Why did you call?"

"oh I was just going to abuse him for telling you about the party" I laughed awkwardly

"oh yeah that was pretty dumb of him” she laughed "hey Remi"

"what's up"

"if something was going on you would tell me right "

"of course your my best friend"

" okay cool , Lanre is just coming out of the shower"

"Chioma!" I screamed laughing

"don't worry he is getting dressed in the bathroom I'm not that kind of girl"

"sure" I laughed. This is the first time I feel like a true friend again laughing and talking about boys .

"Lanre is back I got to go but here he is I’m going home so I will see you later"

"you too babe"

"Bye" she gave Lanre the phone and I heard his breathing in my ear it made shivers go down my spine. But I have to remember I am going to be extremely mad at him and yelll at him and tell him this is over. But then he answered.

"Hey she is gone"

"Lanre this can't happen anymore we are going to end up hurting Chioma"

"I know I’m sorry"

"You don't know how I felt when you kissed her today right after kissing me"

"I'm sorry"

" And you know what I just thought, that if I was your girlfriend, I wouldn't want you kissing another girl at all "

"I'm sorry!"

"I hate this Lanre we can't do this anymore!"

"I know but I don't want to hurt her"

"No Lanre you don't want to break up with her" I felt tears in my eyes

"Remi please"

"goodbye Lanre"

About ten minutes later after I got, my nightie I heard a knock on my window. I walked over to the window it was dark with just the shine of the stars and moon out. I looked down and I saw Lanre standing on the wet grass with a sweatshirt and dark jeans.

"Remi please let me talk to you"

"Or how about you go fuck yourself and leave me alone I’m not doing this to Chioma " I whispered down to him.

"please I know you hate me right now but please let me say something "

"Fine you have 2 minutes"

"May I come up"

"You’re wasting your time"

"Okay well when I first met you I thought you were just going to be that friend that when Chioma and I were to break up you would just glare at me whenever I walked by. But when I kissed you it was like a million fireworks went off in my heart.... I love you Remi."

“it’s hard to believe you” I said to him. Before I knew it he was climbing up to my window.

"Lanre .. I “before I could finish he kissed me .

"Fireworks every time"

Best Friends For Never {Chapter 7 - Chioma}

I slipped into a seat next to Remi and she looked up at me in surprise.

"You’re in this class?"

"Yeah, awesome right!" I squealed and she gave me a thumbs up. "Think you can hang out tonight?" I asked.

"I can't, I'm going to the library."

"Oh... Who am I supposed to hang out with!? Lanre has assignments too and kingsley is like MIA. He was a total jerk at lunch. Any idea why?" I asked

"No." She said quickly. We didn't talk for the rest of class and I felt an awkward vibe between us. I tapped my nails on the desk impatiently. Finally the bell rang and we got up quickly.

Lanre was waiting outside the class. "Hey!" He called waving us over.

"Hi." I said taking his hand and heading down the hall. "Hey do you know what’s going on with Kingsley?" I asked.

"Actually I have no idea." He shot Remi a look and she looked away quickly.

I pulled to a stop in the hall. "OK something is going on between the two of you and I want to know." I waited for someone to respond. "Well?"

"Chioma," Lanre began, his face solemn.

"You caught us!" Remi interrupted with a laugh. "We have been planning a surprise party for you. I told you she would find out!" She said with a nervous laugh and slapped Lanre playfully upside the head.

"Sorry!" Lanre gave an uneasy laugh.

"Awww," I smiled and hugged him. "You don't need to do anything for me!"

"Of course I do." He said with a smile leaning down to kiss me.

"Chioma!" Remi interrupted. "We are gonna get stuck in traffic, let’s go now ooo!" I blushed heavily and said my goodbye to Lanre as we headed towards the school gate.

I linked arms with Remi and smiled. "I have the best friend in the world."

Best Friends For Never {chapter 6 - Remi}

While Chioma went to talk to kingsley I took the time to talk to Lanre.....

"Look Lanre, Chioma is my best friend and I'm not throwing away our amazing friendship for some guy I'm sorry" I said fast and quiet.

"Is that a challenge?" Lanre whispered leaning his forward to whisper better.

"This isn't a game if you like me at least break up with her so you won’t hurt her to badly .. and just so you know I'm never going to fall for you."I hissed.

"Oh really I vividly remember you blushing when you gave me a hug when you got home." he whispered to me.

"One my face is naturally red, Two if you hurt her I will personally rip off your head and three give me one reason why I should like you."

On my way to my next class Lanre caught up to me.

"Hey"

"What do you want?"

"Look Remi I didn't plan to feel this way. A month ago I was completely crazy for Chioma! When we kissed it just kinda felt right."

"To bad I can't remember how it felt" I said trying to walk in front of him.

"Oh really well it was pretty magical" he said sarcastically he cut in front of me and of course there were no people around. "Want me to refresh your memory?"

He leaned in and kissed me. To be completely honest I was always so jealous of Chioma, she was always so pretty and had all the cute and nice guys and ever since I met Lanre I really liked him. I mean Chioma always had really cute boyfriends.

But something about Lanre was different whenever he talked or made really stupid jokes I wouldn't be able to stop smiling. He was completely right though being here with him kissing him just felt right. No matter how wrong it was, it just felt ... RIGHT!!!!!

On the outside I couldn't let go of his kiss his hands cradling my face our lips soft on each other. But on the inside I was freaking out. I couldn't tell Kingsley and definitely not Chioma. After all these years of Chioma being such a great friend this is how I return the favor! I am a horrible friend. What am I going to do?

Best Friends For Never {chapter 6 - Remi}

While Chioma went to talk to kingsley I took the time to talk to Lanre.....

"Look Lanre, Chioma is my best friend and I'm not throwing away our amazing friendship for some guy I'm sorry" I said fast and quiet.

"Is that a challenge?" Lanre whispered leaning his forward to whisper better.

"This isn't a game if you like me at least break up with her so you won’t hurt her to badly .. and just so you know I'm never going to fall for you."I hissed.

"Oh really I vividly remember you blushing when you gave me a hug when you got home." he whispered to me.

"One my face is naturally red, Two if you hurt her I will personally rip off your head and three give me one reason why I should like you."

On my way to my next class Lanre caught up to me.

"Hey"

"What do you want?"

"Look Remi I didn't plan to feel this way. A month ago I was completely crazy for Chioma! When we kissed it just kinda felt right."

"To bad I can't remember how it felt" I said trying to walk in front of him.

"Oh really well it was pretty magical" he said sarcastically he cut in front of me and of course there were no people around. "Want me to refresh your memory?"

He leaned in and kissed me. To be completely honest I was always so jealous of Chioma, she was always so pretty and had all the cute and nice guys and ever since I met Lanre I really liked him. I mean Chioma always had really cute boyfriends.

But something about Lanre was different whenever he talked or made really stupid jokes I wouldn't be able to stop smiling. He was completely right though being here with him kissing him just felt right. No matter how wrong it was, it just felt ... RIGHT!!!!!

On the outside I couldn't let go of his kiss his hands cradling my face our lips soft on each other. But on the inside I was freaking out. I couldn't tell Kingsley and definitely not Chioma. After all these years of Chioma being such a great friend this is how I return the favor! I am a horrible friend. What am I going to do?

Best Friends For Never {chapter 5 - Chioma}

School. I can never decide if I love or hate it. Unbearable early mornings, long dull classes, your whole day shut away in a room. But then again you can see your friends, learn things you never knew, have people influence your future for the better (though it’s sometimes for the worse). But no matter how you feel, love or hate it, you have to go anyway.

Monday was the first day and I was hoping maybe things would be back to normal. I spotted Remi and ran over. "Remi! Hey!" She saw me and gave a small wave then began fidgeting with the seam of her shirt.

"Hey Chioma." She gave me a smile but I could see something else on her face, but I wasn't sure what.

We headed into the building and I shoved my hands into the pockets of my hoodie. "So," I began awkwardly. "Did something happen at the party?" Remi looked at me with shock.

"Chioma i- i" She seemed at a loss for words.

"I knew it." I said with a sigh.

"You what?" She squeaked.

"I knew, that’s why you where acting so weird! So what did I do?" I asked. Her face relaxed.

"What do you mean what did you do?"

"I must have done something because I think everyone is mad at me. Lanre, Kingsley and you where all avoiding me." Suddenly Remi was laughing like an insane person. "What?" I asked confused.

"Chioma we were all hung over that’s why we were acting weird, no one was avoiding you! You didn't do anything!" I let out a sigh of relief.

"Thank God! You guys really scared me, normally you aren't so weird when you are hung over though."

Remi just shrugged. "Different drinks?"

"Maybe." I agreed. We walked the rest of the way to class in silence.

"I'm sorry." Remi said, her face unreadable.

"Why are you sorry?" I asked giving her a look.

"For scaring you!" she said with a laugh and a smile, but like before something was hidden under the surface.

"Its all good babe." I joked and gave her a hug.

Lanre sat down next to me at the lunch table. "Hey." He said coolly and kissed me on the cheek. "Sorry for being so short with you before." He apologized and I let out a small laugh.

"Everyone is apologizing! Really guys its fine." I said addressing both Lanre and Remi. Lanre nodded then met Remi's eyes and she quickly looked away. "Whats up with you two?" I asked rolling my eyes and biting my burger.

"Nothing." Remi said giving me a smile.

"If you say so." I muttered under my breath. "Look there is Kingsley!" I yelled his name and waved him over but he ignored me and kept talking to a girl in a tight skirt and top. "I'll be right back." I walked over to him ready to drag him back to the table by force if necessary.

"I like your shirt." He said to the girl and she gave him a big smile.

"Thanks!I got it at -"

"Kingsley." I interrupted and the girl glared at me. As for Kingsley I couldn't really read his expression. "Can we talk?"

"I was sort of talking to Halima." Halima? The name seemed to fit the girl at least.

"Well Kingsley can't Halima wait?" I asked annoyed.

"Is this your girlfriend?" Halima asked popping her gum and eyeing me. "Cause at the party you said you didn't have one." Oh great he had probably been setting P with Halima.

"No she is not my girlfriend." He said meeting my eyes annoyed. "Chioma what do you want?"

"I want to know why you’re avoiding me!"

"I'm not avoiding you." He said simply. Before I could respond I saw him looking at something behind me. "If I were you get back to your table." I turned around to see Lanre and Remi whispering to each other. I felt an uncomfortable stirring in my stomach. No way am I jealous. I know there is nothing between them, not in a million years. But the way Kingsley had said it was as if he was inferring there was something going on, which just made me mad.

"Shut up Kingsley." I snapped and stormed back to the table. As I approached the two quickly quit talking. "So what where you talking about?" I asked calmly.

"Nothing really." Lanre said with a shrug. I believed him, or at least I wanted to, but Kingsley had left me unsure.

The Mavins to perform at MTV VJ search finale
